The addition of the rear spoiler on the TT was purely cosmetic, the real changes happened underneath. (Ex-TT owner)
As with most things, after the few fatalitles of the early TT, a physical and visible addition of the spoiler was to make it obvious something had been done to rectify the issue. The real fix was underneath, but some didn't like how they had changed the handling and so there is a mod to revert back to closer to the original bushes and such to restore the handling.
