Doors not unlocking with remote, HELP?

Hi can anyone help? My 04 3.0 roadster every now and then won't open from the remote, the alarm is disabled and the interior light comes on but the doors dont unlock,
But the boot always opens from the remote no problems, i have fitted a gap tech, could a faulty unit cause this? :headbang:
 
Do the doors centrally unlock when you turn the key in the lock?
 
Have you tried reprograming the key? To do this you need to enter car shut both doors and boot. Switch ignition on and off
then remove key then press and HOLD unlock button, press lock button 3 times and release unlock button. The central locking should activate buttons to confirm.
 
If you try Swifty's suggestion, you need to do all the remote keys in sequence before opening the door. Any that you don't do will no longer work via remote.

Sounds to me like the GM5 module, I've got the same problem and currently trying to resolve it by replacing the two relays within this module. There are guides available if you search for GM5 repairs.
Alternatively if you go to eBay you will find two sources that will repair it for around £55 or supply the parts for £15.

ive been lookin into it and i keep ending up with the posibilty thats it the gm5 module, thanks for the advice, will you let me know if it solves the problem :thumbsup:
 
There is one other possibility: a problem with the ZV remote control receiver which is located inside the mirror. My keyfobs functioned intermittently for a short while before failing altogether not long after I bought my Zed. Fortunately it was replaced under approved used warranty but before it was replaced I popped the mirror open to check the board and found that a component in the power supply stage had burned out. Replacing it solved the problem and it worked again (but I had my replacement by that stage).
 
I had a similar problem and it was the GM5. It cost about £40 to get fixed using some people I found on eBay. There were really good, if you want me to find a link?

I was sceptical at first but every search I did about my problems came back to the same thing - GM5.

Im pretty sure it is the gm5 module now, could you post the link for me? how long did it take for it to be repaired? thank you :D

Take the time to read through and contact him with any questions. I thought my problem was also the module (passenger door only unlocks by handle pull now) but after exchanging some emails, he said it was more likely the actuator motor in my case ($$$)

Most problems are either the door lock actuator assembly or the GM5 module. Sometimes the problem is hard to determine. For some reason, GM5 problems occur with unlocking much, much, more often than locking. Here are a few tell tale signs for determining which is the faulty part.

2-door - both doors fail to work -> GM5
2-door - only the driver's door fails -> indeterminate
2-door - only passenger door fails -> indeterminate
Problem seems to be worse in hot or cold weather -> GM5
Fuel filler door doesn't unlock either -> GM5

Just replaced the two relays that I mentioned in my previous post, refitted the module and given a series of tests to see if it will fail, pleased to say its faultless. :)

So it confirms what I posted earlier for a problem that involves both doors, glad it worked out.

Good move - I was sceptical at first but I worked like a charm for me.
