Door won't unlock

I went to get into my 03 Z4 today and the passenger door wouldn't unlock. I used the remote key, and the button on the console, and did the double-pull thing with the inner handle and nothing worked. The lock button was up sometimes and down sometimes, but either way the door wouldn't open. Any ideas??? I'm lost.
 
Hello and welcome to the forum

It sounds like the small bowden cable is stretched or broken. Can you open the door from the inside OK or is it just the outside door handle giving trouble
