Door won't open!

hi guys/girls

unfortunately after having my drivers side window regulator replaced, i started to experience problems getting the door open after unlocking the car. it was intermittent at first but now the door won't open at all, the button is moving up and down but not unlocking the door. (i'm not 100% that the 2 problems are related)

has anyone experienced this on their Z before and do you have any solutions? i can't see how i'm going to get the door open if the lock is seazed? are there ways good mechanics can do this without causing damage?

i'm reluctant to take it back to the mechanic who repaired the window now as he isn't very good apparantly.
 
Is it the handle that is just not working?

Ie, if you get in, lock it, and then unlock it does the inside door handle work?

Is the window dropping at all when you pull the handle? If it's not, that might be causing it to stick, but then I would have thought with enough force it would still open.
 
the door won't open at all mate its locked. the window works it goes up and down fine. i'm gona take it to a real garage and get it sorted, hopefully they won't need to burst the door to get it open.
 
sounds like they have disturbed the cable when doing the window.

worst case it needs replacing,

to get the door open you will need to put the window down and take the seal off, with a long screw driver you will be able to see the door lock mech, and press it down it will release the door catch.

any help needed or if your local to manchester give me a shout
 
its difficult to explain without showing it lol.

i got half way through a guide when changing my cable but then it got far too tricky for my likeing so i just cracked on with it and forgot about taking pictures and before i knew it it was all back together lol

i tried to press down the mechanism by peeling back the interior door trim and pushing it with a long metal file but i couldn't get it to open unfortunately. but i'll give that another go maybe i didn't press it down hard enough?

its a bit of a tricky begger tbh, where you based?

mine went from randomly coming open by itsself to not opening at all, wasnt sure which i prefered.

new membrane and cable about £30 from a main dealer about 2 hours to fit job done
