do the doors on the pre-facelift models close with a good solid clunk like the 3 series, or should there be a different sound, like almost a rattle?

facelift models had more dampening inside the door to help eliminate the clang.

Think CJ may have put some sound deadening felt in his doors, but yes as original bit tinny but not an issue for me.

The tinny doors are one of the only Z4 irritations for me and have been commented on by P155 taking mates with an old MX5 and an MGF, both of which have more solid sounding doors .......and a diminishing view of the Zed's rear end 8)
Maybe the padding is a job for the winter.
