Door card removal

I m looking for a thread that can tell me how to do this. I tried using search but no joy.
Basically I want to experiment with putting some speakers in the empty space behind the door grille as I only have the basic 6 speaker set up. What do you have to remove from the door and can I just prise it from the bottom with a plastic spatula type thingy. My other concern is what about the airbag ? Any help greatly appreciated

I'm sure there is a thread on this but:

Unclip door handle tim - undo the 4 torx bolts and remove handle
Pull the blankin cap out the door handle pull, remove the torx and prise out the door handle. Disconnect bowden cable
Prise the airbag clip out and undo torx in the hole

Lever the door trim off from the base and work around to the top. lift and pull off the lower window edge

You need to peel the membrane off to get inside. If you damange it buy a new one else the door will leak !!!

You can fit OEM speakers in the correct place or modify it as I did to take better quality

Wiring is done via the door convolute tube or adding new connector pins

Leave the airbag alone. If you do remove it discoonect the battery 15 mins before and leave it off until reconnected else you'll trigger the airbag warning if you turn on the ignition.

I suggest you buy a TIS manual of Ebay which has every step in minute detail

OK... Got it all done to the point of lifting the door trim off the window edge.. Everything you listed CJ10 is off but try and lift and pull as I might it will not shift. Obviously I am pulling pretty damn hard but when its your first time its tricky to know how much force and where and in what direction. I have stopped at the point of the top of the door card flexing quite a lot !!!
So near yet so far.... have they changed the top fixing on the facelift cars perhaps

Nargh - just pull it directly away from the door and it will spring off about 5 clips.
I have a way of putting a hand or finger behind to lever the fist clip off the rest then follow.

Forgot to say don't forget to disconnect the door switches. you can do this by lifting the switch out first or from below once the door card is loose

Sorry to hijack but i dont think it deserves a new thread, is it simple to remove the trim for the speakers in the footwells as this is where the main bass speakers live?

The main mid/low speaker in the footwell is real easy to access.

For the passenger side:
Remove glovebox undertray, 2 screws near the front, unplug light.
Remove trim along lower door seal.
Remove screw located under trim just removed.
Panel then can be removed, there are 2 clips that hold it in place.

For drivers side:
Remove glovebox undertray, 3 screws near the front, unplug light and buzzer speaker thing.
Remove trim along lower door seal.
Remove screw located under trim just removed.
Remove screw holding bonnet lever on, this reveals another screw to remove.
Panel then can be removed, there are 2 clips that hold it in place and unplug the boot release button.

How do you re-attach the door card securely? Mine had been removed at some stage and not re-fitted correctly which is causing rattles. Essentially the plastic clips are not attaching correctly which means the card is not sitting correctly against the door as it should.

Assumng you mean the lower half of the door card then buy new clips as they are likely to have broken when being removed

Yes that's right. Do I need to remove the door panel fully in order to fit new clips? Does anyone have part numbers etc? thanks

I'm sure if you loosen all the torx behind the handles, airbag plug, etc then it will pull forward enough to work on.

You can look up part numbers on realoem.com, but frankly simpler to just buy over the counter at the dealers as a stock item.
