Don't let this be you!

Time for a change of pants.

Had the accelerator get stuck on the floor mat in my Fiat Coupe, coming up to a junction. Fortunately I hit the brake and the clutch, PDQ & stuck it down the middle of the road, between the traffic queuing for the junction and the traffic coming the other way.

Fortunately there was an underpants store nearby.

Had it a bit on my e34 M5 until I found where the throttle cable became frayed and stuck in the sheath.

No drama, just braked, didn't push the clutch in as it would have been screaming off the rev limiter, and moved to the hard shoulder where I turned the ignition off one stage.

I can't believe the amount of people who claim not be able to 'do anything' when this happens.

What's this brake of which thou speaketh?

I mean really if you push one pedal in and the car doesn't really do anything, why would you keep pressing it?? :?

What a retard.....he sat pressing the clutch for how long???

At least he wasn't going any faster than 70. Twat

Why would you post that though?

Some say he's a BTCC driver having a laugh, others that he's secretly filming for Top Gear.

All we know is that He's a Plank!

My guess is he's a long time auto driver. I've seen a few auto drivers get confused like that when switching back to a manual. Grinding gears and forgetting which pedal is where. Not me thankfully.

I went from an A3 DSG to a manual Saab convertible, and the brake pedal was so high that for the the first few months I gave myself a few scary moments as I missed the brake pedal and hit the clutch...

...however after a few milliseconds something in your brain tells you that you are not decelerating, instinct takes over and a you start figuring out why and make alternative arrangements, as in release the brake and try again and steer away from anything that you are approaching rapidly.

...however as you get older this survival instinct seems to diminish and panic becomes overriding
