Without any hassle from The Man ...

OK ...
I don't expect many here to remember Easy Rider...
Being that Im 60 and living in the New World and all that ..
But I recall some of you have been irritated by aggressive and distracted drivers..
I think you call them " Men in White Vans " ...
Well Friday on the Eve of Victoria Day Weekend I had my own involvement with what I will call
A$$hole in a Yellow Corvette !
I first noticed him when he tailgated me into a shopping mall ..
I veered towards the grocers, while he headed for the McDonald's Drive Through.
I thought little of it til I was exiting for home.
Again he tucked up behind me in the right turn lane.
When the light changed I spritely made my turn, almost immediately signalling a lane change into the middle lane.
Hopefully you aren't confused as we drive on the wrong side over here.
Im checking my mirrors (always) and halfway into the lane when Im aware of this huge roar ..
My mirror reflects this Corvette in a cloud of ? exploding into my lane ..
Im still ahead of him and in the right of way, but he had floored that beast and it has responded in true muscle car fashion ..
That translated, means he is in a full 4 wheel drift sideways ..
I take immediate evasion to get out of his way ..
He ends up another lane over ...which is a left turn lane ..
I shake my head ...Not so much in disbelief. I understand the motivation of someone who needs at least 500 hp but has the coping skills of a Neanderthal.
Well I guess he didn't like my negativity ..
When the light changes he immediately guns it again and somehow maneuvers to the far left hand turn lane ..that's three lanes to the right...
And of course he doesn't want to make a right turn at all. He wants to challenge everybody to a drag race across the intersection, which can accommodate only 2 lanes !
Nobody can miss a smokin' Yellow Corvette with over 500 hp squirming back and forth across the asphalt ..
Fewer could out accelerate him either...
So away he went, getting somewhere first with as much "Look At Me" short of crashing that thing into a pole (My secret wish)
And a coupla hundred yards later he veered again into a left turn lane and slowed ..
Most would expect a left turn out of him, But I was wiser to that typical maneuver...
As I drove past on his inside ..
He quickly pulled into my lane ...
I responded by giving my lane up by signaling and merging right ..
He roared up beside me ...opened his passenger window ...
Im thinking "What now ?" But glanced in his direction ...
Seconds expired as he was confused to come up with a comment or observation ...
I was prepared to ignore him as it was he who was acting like a jerk ...
But then his cognitive skills caught up with him and he shouted ..
"Don't Shake Your Head at Me !"
After which he again floored his Corvette into the distance !!

Like What was that ?
And .."Don't shake your head at me" ?????? .. Was that the best he could do ? ha ha ..That's a grin...

So ..Over here in the New World we have more than out share of American Muscle Cars. Heck General Motors makes all the Chevrolet Camaros less than 7 miles away.
I just want to enjoy my Z and relax while taking in the summer and warm weather. I don't want to challenge anyone's manhood or insult his choices ...
I just wanna live my life ...enjoy it with maybe a few grins ..
Without any hassle from The Man or his Neanderthal pals

Cheers

Good form there, Bumpy... and yes, I do remember Easy Rider (on my list of favourite films)

I have a friend (male) that when faced with an aggressor as you describe, camps it up and blows them a kiss. They have no response and generally roar off with their tail between their legs.

Easy Rider - went to watch it along with a full length version of Woodstock! And good for keeping your cool to such an idiot
