Dog seat

Perhaps bit of an odd one, but I'm looking for a dog seat that fits in the front passenger seat of my Z. Amazon has loads of basket style seats that buckle in and you can buckle the dog into the basket, but dunno about size/fit and how sturdy they are? It's for a miniature Dachshund and I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations?

I have a harness which you put on the dog, then clip directly to a fastened seat belt. I used it with my Gordon Setter. I believe you can buy them in different sizes. I used to put a simple elastic aged seat cover bought from Halford’s to protect the seat.

We have a pair of mini wire dachshunds (Mum and daughter) and to travel in the Z4 we use their usual travel crate, fully enclosed, material with mesh sides. Pop it on the seat. The belt runs through the carry straps and we move the seat forward until the crate wedges against the dash so it can't move anywhere.
Plenty of ventilation and one side and the top both zip open so easy to get them in and out.
Tried the seatbelt harness attachment but it doesn't stop them climbing onto the centre console ( and of course is no use now we have two)

Cue gratuitous photo of the little perishers:

Good idea Martin. Never thought of doing that. The harness worked well with the Setter

They look full of character Martin and mischievous too. Never thought of using the travel cage. That’s a good idea. The harness worked well with the Setter. She was quiet and well behaved unlike our current little hooligans. Plus of course, a cage big enough for a Setter wouldn’t fit.

I built a small platform with a piece of covered ply and a couple of legs to extend the seat area then put one of his dog beds across it. A restraint clipped into the seatbelt slot clips to his collar although he's now a got a bit big to be going in there.
