Does this annoy anyone else or am I just being an ///M snob?

The thing that annoys me is that the only people that the badge will make any difference to will know it isn't an ///M , there's another diesel near me that has one on both sides!! Cringe :fuelfire:

I can hear the worm can being prized open.....

Well as BMW now even put small M badges on the side of M-sport cars I think whether it is right or wrong has become irrelevant.

To me thats an m sport badge now. I'd love to know why every other m has a bespoke badge m3 m5 etc yet the z4m has the m sport badge which like I've said before, is on half the 320d's you see every day.
Does anyone know of a company who make badges? I'd like to get a proper z4m badge made.

Plus one

They are plastered all over their non M cars now anyway so if its fine for BMW its fine for the owners I reckon.

 another M badge thread.

Don't let it annoy you Dean.

My view is - who cares? Enthusiasts know its fake. No one will care. No point getting stressed over it :)

Immitation is the sincerest form of flattery. In any event, it's the driver that makes the difference.

Noticed on the configurator on bmw's site the new E89's have Msport badges on the sides now :?
They do it on pretty much all new Msport models now across the range! :o

We have Z4 3.0si without M badges as it's the Si, simple. Our daily drive is a 3 Series diesel Touring M Sport 11 plate debadged, apart from tiny M on the steering wheel. It's replacement NEW 3 or 5 series diesel M Sport Touring I think comes with little M badges on the sides unless you opt out. Diesel with M badges, hmmmmm  full M cars should have M badge but the marketing men will no doubt dictate M badges on M Sport cars as it will help sales.

Mate has the new 135M auto and what a car. In my eyes that could be classed as a full M as it goes like stink, handles brilliantly and looks the part. It's also a petrol and not a diesel!!

Diesels with M, errrrrrrr :headbang: and I have a diesel M Sport but it is merely a diesel Sport (that looks good) without badges. It's a diesel, it does 50-60 mpg but it's a DIESEL, it's not an M. :fuelfire:

Doesnt annoy me at all coz I am smugly safe in the knowledge that their "M" is nowhere near as fast as mine

T'was ever the way.

Some Boxster 2.7 owners have been known to paint their brake caliphers red to "fool" the world into believing they had a 3.2. I was tempted to paint my elderly 3.2 brakes blue, just to stick 2 fingers up the nose of the Top Gear types, but it would have looked seriously cr**. Got rid of it for an M! Not even sure what the M stands for and don't care! I want to drive it, not look at it.

I don't give a stuff about badges etc.. If someone wants to delude themselves let 'em get on with it. It doesn't change what's on my driveway for better or worse.

it annoys me.. I know it shouldn't and in the big scheme I suppose It doesn't bother me per say.. but every time I see it I do end up saying 'arrrrgh that's not an M3/M5(usually)!'

Always has done even before I had a BMW.. Same with any car done up to look like a 'greater' model tbh, I Think just because I usually notice straight away

Gotta say though, not a huge fan of how the M badge has become more of a trim level rather than being reserved for the 'specials'. Almost like how you can get AMG varients of say a 2.3 c class rather than just the 6.3 monster. but thats just me..

I just have a laugh at them... no point getting all upset.

it's even funnier when they "forget" that their car is a 1.8 or tdi or whatever and they start to believe their own fake badges...

as previously stated at the top of the page.... "only people that the badge will make any difference to will know it isn't an ///M "

Too true. I had an M badge on a Z3, it ended up on my dog for a photo session (she's pretty sporty you know  ) and then went in the bin. It's just a bit of plastic....with some chrome on it and some paint.

BMW has a 1 series, a 2 series , 3 series, 4, 5, 6 , 7 series , what's next ? an 8 ? and all smothered in M badges..... '
Audi sells a ton of S-line badges, BMW is doing the same. If you buy the bolt on kit you get a nice badge.....
