Ok, so it might seem like a dumb question to someone in the know, and afetr searching about on here about 19" alloys (the size im looking for) ive noticed people are saying that 19" have rears at 265/30/19 and fronts at 235/35/19. tho the ones ive seen are 255/30/19 for the rears. would this be differnt as theve not come off a z4 and off a E46? would it not be a good idea to fit thses wheels to a Z4, if in fact they could be fitted at all? thanks to all that have the patience to help me. lol.

Hi - yes it does matter.

The important information you need is the offset (ET) number. This tells you how far out the wheel sits from the centre line. Manufacturers quote the ET number for each wheel but you can get the data for BMW wheels from this site http://www.alloywheelsdirect.net/bmw_alloy_wheels/.

Once you know the Offset for the new and existing wheels you can put the data in this site http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp to see how the new wheels will fit your car.

It's quite straight forward really. Good luck.

Oh, nearly forgot you need the wheel width as well.

You haven't mentioned the width of the wheels, only the width of the tyres.
Can you post a link to the wheels with all the relevent info on and you will no doubt get a definative answer.
The fact they came off an e46 and are fitted with those tyres is not a barrier to them fitting

And quite often a slight difference in offset can be resolved with spacers (assuming the offset difference is the right way around)

Thanks for the help guys, I'm not sure it states the wheel width on the listing? The link to it is here if it helps at all. Thanks http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/300687438163?redirect=mobile

The wheels are 8.5 and 9.5 wide as stated. You will need to ask what the offsets are.
I'm not sure why he has spigot rings. I thought the centre bore for an e46 was 72.6m the same as a Zed. I can only assume these were from a different series BMW with a larger bore. :?
Perhaps someone else has the answer?

Well I sent a email to the guy ages ago and he's still not got back. Guess it puts those wheels out of mind then. But the original question kind of still remains.. Should the rear tyres be 265 or 255's or would it not matter as long as the alloys where 9.5? Sorry of I'm totally crap with tyres and alloys, I know nothing. Lol

lol well just brousing through the forums i stumbled upon this thread.. http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=29573 seems like they will fit then! :)
