Does DSP Amp need recoding?

Hi all.

My car had gone for some warranty work (another story) on the Satnav a few weeks ago. A week after it came back, there is intermittent sound from the speakers once the engine is running. There are no issues if the engine is off - in fact I get sound back as soon as I switch off the engine.

There is no damage to the amp - does it need recoding or is the amp gone off? (another warranty excess :() If recoding - where do I get it done? How much would it cost? Any suggestions for around West London.

When I replaced my amp I had to have it re-coded. I fitted it myself but the car didn't recognise it so I took it to my local indy and they coded it for me.

I was having other work done so they just did it as part of service, charging me for the time only which wouldn't take longer than 15 mins.

If the amp was already coded to the car and was working fine before you took it in for work, I would ask the garage to look into it first at their cost. Also, check all the connections are OK and there is no damp in the footwell. You should check the connections on the back of the amp, as well as the head unit.

If the problem only occurs when the engine is running, it would seem to me that there is some electrical interference happening.

Thanks for the response. Yes its only happening when the engine is running. I switch it off and things are fine again.

Should figure it out soon. Thanks for the help.
