Could be much worse...at least your neighbour's panda hasn't tried sleeping on the roof of your Zed yet :D
 
This must be an international problem! Here in Canada, our cat has just last summer started napping on the roof of my roadster. What makes it more perplexing is that he didn't bother with the car at all for 2009 and 2010.

I recommend that you go to a local toy store and get one of those huge water guns the kids play with these days. You can drench the little guys from a distance without hurting him or your car. It should discourage the cat and you can have some harmless fun too!
 
Try that here in Canada and you'll wind up facing some very serious charges for animal cruelty. I expect the situation in the US is similar in that regard.

I guess cruelty is in the eye of the beholder. Popping a cat with a low powered airsoft gun is utterly harmless. As harmless as spraying one with a water gun. I tell ya, if I sprayed my wife with cold water from a water pistol, going to jail would be a relief compared to what she would do to me. Id be in far less trouble for getting her with an airsoft rifle. (And no, Im not in the habit of shooting my wife with anything.)
 
Oh! I think I must have misunderstood your initial post. When I hear "air rifle", I think of a relatively powerful BB gun or pellet rifle. If you meant something much less powerful, please disregard my earlier post!
