Does anybody know what this is ?

On a z4 e85 2003.....just to the right of the rear number plate theres a sort of cirle of body work / a flip open cover. Inside it there's just a hole. Does anybody know what this sort of circular 'flap' is for ? I'm not talking about the parking sensors.

I ask because the rear of my zed had a minor argument with a wall recenlty and now this part of the bodywork I am trying to describe wont 'fasten' back into its hole and I can't work out why.

Sorry for no photos to explain what I mean. Have forgotten the process of getting photos on here.
 
Thanks for the reply. Next step is to establish why it does fix in the hole anymore.

In that diagram do you think part 6 is some sort of bracket that is meant to hold the flap in place ?
