That seems to be a good deal (starting at) are we getting ripped off in the UK??? Its not exactly a sports car (as Z4) but still a sorted motor..............

if you think it's bad in the UK, in aus, the same car costs more due to the exchange rate as is. Then a top spec challenger I think will attract luxury car tax on top of the GST, general import costs etc PLUS they have to be converted to right hand drive which costs around 50k (ie. as much as the car itself!) SO a $50k top spec challenger or shelby gt500 in the US will cost a minimum of $100k landed in aus.

Then if the car does go on sale here in the future (like the new mustang) The going price of them tumbles.

Currently my all time favourite car! The UK price inflates by 20% plus shipping and other related costs. Basically you take the dollar price and turn it into pounds even though you get 1.5 $/£. I think the lowest cost available in the UK is currently at ~23K but normally there is a starting price of ~£30K+. These prices are for cars that are 3 or 4 years old. If you want a new Hellcat then you are looking at £70K+.
Never been sure how the States manage to produce cars at the price they do. I can only think we here in Europe and I presume elsewhere are paying substantially more than we ought to be.

It a figure that is never discussed in the media...................how much does it actually cost to build a car and what exactly are the 'margins' for manufacturers????
Looking at car sales rooms (generally opulent) there must be some width on the margin ?

I remember the first time that I visited the USA in the late eighties. I bought a local paper and turned to the motoring adverts. I really thought that I was looking at second hand prices. The motor industry evidently used to rather cynicaly refer to the UK mainland as 'Treasure Island' . Even in NI similarly spec'd RHD cars were
at least 20 % less expensive :x
