Do you take the long way home?

Nearly everyday . . . I put the top down and take the long way home. I listen to the entertainment of my choice which is a 3.0i BMW engine. I know that this is extra miles to nowhere . . . but, I can't help it.

Over the years I have owned many a nice car. I treated them like "garage queens." Kept the mileage down, no wear and tear, worried about every use and stared at it on the weekends. What I found was that when I sold these cars, I had stupedly absorbed their depreciation and the new owner had a fantastic and practically new car . . . Not any more.

Enjoy your Z4 . . . everyday . . . and drive it like you stole it! :driving:

How many of you purposefully drive . . . the long way home? Z4 Pilot

ABSOLUTELY ! I use mine every day ,and give it a bit of welly , not to fast ,just a bit of hard accelaration to force the engine fluids around the nooks and crannies of the engine , looking forward to the better weather and those long drives up north , last year was the first I experianced driving thro Glencoe with no roof , awesome , the hills seemed to come right over the car :driving:

hahaha - I put 12000 miles on my zed in the 10 months Ive owned it, none of it is commuter miles, its all fun ....... :D

Not only do I sometimes take a longer route home, but I also go out for a drive just for the sake of it.

Sometimes when I'm cocooned in the Z's cabin with that straight six purring away on quiet roads, I just don't want to stop. :driving:

Hehehe.. I am owner of Z just since oktober, but...
Not only long rides from work, but now I love to do shopping for groceries, that always was a problem for me :D So when we miss something at home,,, I GO ShOPPING - HONEY  Shop is just around the corner, but sometimes it takes me 20min, to get there  But it has negative aspect as well. For example 1Liter of milk in SUmmer time cost me +/- 10EUR,- in winter only 1 :headbang:
Now I am vaiting for spring, so I can take my love from garage again.
And what about summer vacation... Do you think, that with my Girlfriend we will go somewhere with plane, to stuppid snobby resort??
No No NO!!! This summer, 2-3 days weekend trips, to surrounding countries,,, No HIGHWAY!!! beautifull nature, myZ4, roof down, myZ4, sun, myZ4... and oh,, I almoust forgot.. and my girlfriend  and myZ4

X2

ALWAYS take the longer, windier routes home. Always put the foot down. I'm not sure what's more intoxicating, the sheer brutal acceleration or the noise.

While driving my Z4C home from the dealer on Friday, I put my foot down in 3rd gear going up a hill, and upon hearing the engine roar made what can only be described as a "sex noise".

Sometimes those "longer" drives home can become costly. So, last year, June 1 to be exact, I decided to go into the mountains after work to cruise around :driving: Now, i wasn't going very fast because I was enjoying the road and scenery :D . All of a sudden, here comes this Nissan around a blind corner and he loses it and of course, we meet
Long story short, my 03 Z4 2.5i with 236K was totalled. i was not hurt. I got a good price from the insurance and on June 15, bought a 07 Z4 3.0i fully loaded :D :D .
So my warning is....you may come home with a BETTER Z4 than you left with

Funny, but I thought about this kind of thing when I started this discussion. The more one is on the road the more likely that something bad can happen. But, I guess I'll just chance it and hope for the best by watching out for others (except for blind curves and idiot drivers.) :o

I just enjoy it as my fear is that, if I don't, somebody will eventually have the car I should have been enjoying when I owned it. Z4 Pilot

I'd been taking it easy since picking mine up but after a few days i gave it a proper blast. After feeling the acceleration and hearing that straight six sing I was laughing like a maniac to myself

B-Rex: actually made me LOL!

trailZ4: I have owned my Z4 for over 3 months now. I will admit that I like to put my foot down  I dont think I have ever gone past 3500/4000 rpm with out having a HUGE smile on my face!

I have been known on a few occasions on my way home to drive straight past my house and carry on onto the country roads that I live near, just to go for a blast, and then turn back round and go home.
And I've also been known to leave the house with no intent of going anywhere. I just want to drive the Z :driving:

Is there any point in having a zed and NOT taking the long way home :D

Not that I can think of, but I bet there are a lot of people who are afraid to put miles on it and thus try to keep it perfect. Not anymore for me. I'm not letting the next owner get a "perfect car" while I got the depreciation . . . Used to do that and that was dumb. Z4 Pilot

I suppose I'm guilty of that really. :) The Z is currently sat on the drive gleaming but I'm too much of a tart to take the thing out in the salt and crap. :D

For me keeping it in immaculate condition is half the fun of ownership... (sad but true :P )

... although I've put 9,000 miles on it since June. :driving:

tried taking the long way home from the gym yesterday and got stuck in traffic for 15 mins and then encountered potholes and traffic lights, got annoyed and took a short cut home..... in the summer, usually on a sunday, i do like to take to the roads in the evening and pootle along enjoying the fresh air and warmth of the sun :)
