Do you leave your TV in standby or switch off?

Definitely turned off, although not at the plug. Put a power meter on and you'll soon discover why!

Panasonic quotes 0.7w consumption, is it really worth doing that?

0.25W is all that's consumed by my TV in standby, so that's how it stays.

Switching off at the mains is more likely to kill the panel, so i'd imagine that a new TV is going to be more environmentally damaging than the .25w consumption over it's lifetime.

Went through a phase of test how much each item in the house uses on / standby. Put a couple of those remote switches in so there's no worries about forgetting to turn the power on before sitting down.
Although a lot of items only used a small amount of power like 0.5 watt from an phone charger not doing anything. By the time you add up all the little bits a fair bit comes together.
Stuff like sky box, home server stay powered.
Overal managed to cut the background power use in half.

Everything stays on standby unless I'm going away

The convenience is worth any additional standby electricity use to me
