Do you drive something else in the winter ?

As the title - how many drive another car if the weather is grotty or through the winter ?

Is this a forum of hardened Z4 owners or ones that like to keep their cars clean and shiny away from pot holes and winter grit ?

I have a little Smart Fortwo diesel ... 799cc of pure power  It is my work car but oddly I am preferring the Z4 even though the poor thing only just starts to get warm over the huge 4 miles each way it has to travel

Mine will get used everyday unless there is extreme snow the same as I did in my E85 for the past 4 years.
If the weather is that bad I will use public Transport for my commute.

I am looking forward to seeing how fun the 3.0si Auto will be if it snows this year... mine runs all year round :poke: :driving:

As I commute to work on the train the Alpina is strictly a fun car so, unless there are some nice crisp'n'dry hoonable days, this winter we will mostly be annoying people by cutting them up and refusing to use indicators in the X3 (with winter wheels)

I've no need for loads of cars on the driveway waiting to be used. The Z4 is my only car, with a toyota IQ (other half's car) for when 4 seats are needed or we need to park somewhere busy (as we live in the city).

Dare I say this..... if there is serious snow then my 1995 Volvo 850 T5 gets used. This Swedish tank seems to handle snow well and is a very sentimental vehicle for the family and goes to the garden centre, DIY store, and local tip when required.

Cheers

JC :D

No need to commute now happily retired, so day to day motoring Skoda Yeti, fun motoring in the sunshine Z4 8) (soon to be 35is) arriving in a couple of weeks hopefully, and then being delivered in a covered trailer

I'll use the zed as much as possible but not in very adverse weather. The wife has a Audi TT Quattro for the nasty weather.

Trusty Z3 with wintery tyres so still get to have the roof down on snowy days :D . You would me mad using a Z4 on Summer Tyres on cold slipery roads :)

Even madder using the train amongst all those sweaty bodies :)

Tim.

Thinking of getting an additional car before the winter takes hold - also finding an increasing need to be able to take my mountain bike out to places and cart more people about so thinking of getting something like a Mondeo diesel or similar..

Zed gets Sorn'd over winter :( other car is Fiesta ( Boring but reliable ) and 25 year old VW Campervan .

The Z4 is the daily driver for the 20 mile each way commute and is used in all weathers but snow. Half the commute is over very rural untreated back roads so the Range Rover is pressed into service when the white stuff arrives.

Yep, live in the Pennine hills, so I've just purchased a 6 year old Subaru Legacy RenAuto estate to keep us moving over the winter months.

1 former keeper, a retired Head Mistress, all the toys & in mint condition.

Delighted with it

TitanTim, you've nailed my plan entirely.

Z4 on summer runflats to get to the station, then the ever-reliable 3rd rail.

Nope, Zed used all year, but as we have the sea on 3 sides of us you are lucky if any snow we do get lasts until lunch time :)
