Do Pre facelifts have DRL in the front indicator area?

I saw a nice red prefaclift Z4 yesterday on the A38 (driven by a lady on her mobile :roll: )

Her front indicators were constantly lit but more hallogen yellow then orange - when she fired up her indicators they got much brigher. Looked pretty smart - almost Audi A5 like - but without LED's!

Was this an option? - or did she have had some electrical short causing it to light up? Not seen a Z4 with that lit up like that before.
 
Oh dear - thats a shame - they looked smart!

Cant be too difficult to relocate the normal halogens to there... although as i have angel eyes bit pointless for me.. and would prob end up looking something like this:

I noticed my front indicators came on when replacing sidelights in the dark. Is this a feature so if sidelights blow indicators come on half power?
 
I have also seen this, I believe the LCM has been programmed to US lighting mode as there are some laws that state you need amber lit all the time at the front? The US cars have 3 bulbs for the turn signals on the front headlight or rather an extra bulb in the upper part on the turn signal, the 2 lower get 6v when lights are on and 12v when indicator is used - guys from across the pond correct me if im wrong?? It does look cool over here because we havent seen it before but over there I believe its the opposite?? :-)
 
Interesting you say if sidelights blow they come on at 6v, i might try that when im upgrading the font lights to clear... Im guessing that is correct because if you pull a rear indicator/turn bulb old it flashes the outer parking lights! Very clever thinking by BMW on the LCM!

I posted in how to area about something very similar, i changed to white led without the canbus and the indicators were lit up when sidelights were on. uber cool!

Soon as i put the originals back in, they dont. im trying to find out how to get them to work with sidelights
