As the forum is getting busier and busier we are inevitably getting quite a lot of spam. The threads are being reported and me and the mods are doing a pretty good job at sniping the spam as quick as possible.

However, it makes our job a lot more difficult when people comment on the spam. Please just click the "report post" button and we will get to it as soon as possible.

I often find I am in a hurry when deleting spam, clcik on the user, ban them and delete the account. If someone has posted a comment or a funny picture in the thread there is a chance I may accidentally delete their account. So, please keep this in mind and simply report spam rather than commenting on it.

My mum used to make battered spam fritters when we were kids.

I liked them

I think I shall have to make some. See if they are actually as good as I remember.

They are Fin, my son loves them (although he doesn't get them too often :) )

I'm reporting Carol for putting her comment in the same format as a previous thread that can no longer be mentioned but makes me feel like banning her :) :telloff:

I think it will be a periodic runner!!

I had to stop myself last week when you used the 'I'm with stupid' smiley :-)

is there no forum add on that could auto ban people trying to post the kitchens URL, or at least stop them posting?

Whilst they are not too frequent, and the mods pick them up very quickly, why not put something in place so that the mods are wasting their time, repeatedly removing this crap?

If you can suggest something that'd be great, but I don't know of anything at present.

... and thanks for those who reported the spam this morning, made it easy to get rid of it in a few seconds rather than having to weed out the replies too

You're welcome - woke up stupid early, couldn't get back to sleep, got on the forum and did some spam-busting. Job done, public service for the day complete. Now going back to bed :D

Maybe new joiners are not allowed to post until their account has been manually activated by the admins?

I guess (if they have time) they can better assess if the account is genuine or not by email address and profile detail?

On some other forums your account has to be ok'd before you can post. While you may not be able to tell sometimes it might put them off if they see it as a bit more hassle to ply their wares on the forum.
