Do I have Halogen or Xenon?

Trying to work out if I have Halogen or Xenon headlights. I end read endless threads about if you have washers you've got xenon - which lead me to believe I did until I saw the bulb.

2003 pre facelift 3.0i

I have: headlight washers & the engraving of H7 HS2 on the black headlight cover.

But: I have the height adjustment dial on the dash & my bulbs look like in the image - no ballast visible

What's the verdict, xenon or halogen?
Thanks

You have halogen.

Both Xenons and halogen have "H7/D2S" on the lens, as they use the same housing with different internals. If you have the height adjuster they are halogen, and yes they are H7 bulbs in pic. Easiest upgrade is a 55w 5000k "metal based" HID kit for around £20.

I think cars fitted with Xenons have automatic headlight levelling, so they don’t have an adjustment dial on the dash.

Yes that's what a I thought too, upon start up the lights dip then go back up.

Got a hid kit I'll install this weekend. Cheers guys

i have no idea what lights are in my z4 but they are some of the best ive used even a decade on, better than my macan, and fiesta ST by some margin.

Easiest way ive found is look under bonnet on top of each headlamp casing / if there is a yellow hazard warning symbol you have Xenon
