DMS Remap @ £495+vat = 255Bhp upgrade on a 2003 3.0i.....

Just got of the phone with DMS with regards to a remap on the 3.0i.

Including rolling road they want £495+VAT, plus i was told it was completely undetectable..

Anyway i still think that is a "good gain" on a NA engine. But i cant really justify the cost..

Anyone had a remap here?

I had one on my W211 E320CDi and it flew like hell for such a heavy car. But thats the turbo for ya!

why not wait until you actually get the car then see if you need the extra power? you know get to know the car first :D

I wouldn't bother. Waste of £500 in my opinion as the difference will be small, and after a week driving it the car will feel no different than before. If you are after power then you'd probably be better going for an M Roadster or an Alpina (if you can find one) – even the Z3M? Insurance and running costs will be heavier but you will have just saved £500 towards them...

I think the clue is in this sentence:

"Including rolling road they want £495+VAT, plus i was told it was completely undetectable.."

'Undetectable' referring to the actual gain and feel on the road.

I'd save this stuff for turbo diesels

agree with everyone above, not a lot of point remapping a n/a engine, good gains to be had with turbos though. as everyone seems to say bmw did good job originally, £500 could be better spend elsewhere, such as better tyres and new brake discs/pads or even the caliper upgrade. or put the cash towards some proper csl wheels and save some weight, which would probably give more gains performance wise. in fact a strut brace can be had for that money i think

You'll get 5-10bhp max, i would of thought BMW got it right first time and without other mods a remap is abit pointless on an N/a.

do the sound generator mod and it will sound like you are going faster :driving:

I've looked into this and cant find a guide on here.

There is a thread about installing a sound generator....but not one for removing the foam...

I'll have a gander when i get the car..

I took out both pieces of foam, the car sounds like a v8 now. biggest bang for the buck is a air intake like a gruppe-M

It is detectable, and insurers who suspect remapped cars can easily tell by checking the checksum of the data on the ECU against what it should be.

£500+vat is LOADS, and the gains are barely there in reality (ESS and Dinan both tuners with great experience with this specific engine, can only offer 4-5bhp)

I'm surprised DMS offer the remap and suggest such gains. Makes you lose faith in such a large supposedly respectable tuner :(
