DME Software update

I have been trying to get to the bottom of an intermitant hesitation i seem to be experiencing in my 2003 3 litre Z4, I have decided to take the dealers advice an update the software on the DME. Has anyone ever had their car updated, if so did they notice much of a difference afterwards? I am getting it done on Tuesday morning and hopefully getting the car back at lunchtime.

I have replaced just about everything else, the only other things i havent replaced yet are the O2 sensors, CCV and the MAF. No warning lights at all.

Just had it done due to a "check engine light". No parts replaced, just remapped. Everything is subtle, but she seems to be smoother in all rev ranges. This is on a face-lift 3.0 Si coupe, though so YMMV.

Had my 2003 3.0 DME software upgraded to fix a known issue with surging between 3-4krpm.

Cost me £99 for the local dealership to correct a fault in BMW's dodgy coding....

Well, if you see my other thread, I can make that "service engine soon" light come on at will. Start off from a stand still with purpose then back all the way off the throttle (as, for example, you're behind some idiot who can't negotiate a right hand turn into a parking deck) and voila, light comes on. I'm booked in on the 26th to have this thing sorted out-they're giving me a loaner to make sure the take care of it this time. I have no idea which sensor has crapped out

Thanks for the replies.

I got my car back yesterday, I have only just now had a chance to give it some stick due to the roads being dreadfully full of 35 in 60 drivers. I am convinced that i no longer have a hesitation and the car does deliver a smooth acceleration through the rev range now. I cannot say 100% if it is gone for good but i am alot happier with the way the car pulls now, it is frighteningly fast now.

Below is what I have done to address the issue, take your pick as to what has made it better. i recon the car ran alot better when i changed the DISA and cleaned the ICV:

Cleaned the MAF with CRC spray
New spark plugs
New Ignition Coils
New Air Filter
Oil Change
Replaced Vanos Oil Seals
New Disa valve
Cleaned the Idle Control Valve
DME software update

I think that it is a good idea to reset the Throttle adaptation on a regular basis especially if you often get caught up in stop go traffic.

I have to say I am still pleased with how the car is running now, the software update has made an improvement on how the car feels. The hesitation is completely gone now, I recon my software must have been as it was when it left the factory.
