You will still need the cruise loom if your car is built after October 2004. You can purchase this by sending a private message to [ref]srhutch[/ref] from this thread: https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=2086575&hilit=Cruise+retrofit+loom#p2086575

I have seen a lot of [ref]Usel[/ref]'s work and I have to say the attention to detail with regard to the mounting of this box is some of his finest!
So good to see we have this level of expertise within the forum.
Well done Rob.

So does it work as flick it up for increase CC speed, down to decrease speed, and is it flick towards you to activate CC?

Imagine the indicator stalk:

Indicate left is 'Off' or cancel
Indicate right is 'Resume'
Flash lights is '-' Minus 1 mph
Full beam is '+' set speed (on) or plus 1 mph

There is not really an on or off. Cruise Control is always live and ready to go, it's not like other BMW models or other manufacturers where you have to turn it on to then set your speed.

The DIY stalk works exactly the same way as the original BMW stalk for the Z4 except on the original you have a push button for 'resume' and there are 2 off positions (left and right.)

Got it I understand,

I assume with this I'm also good to just cut the cowel out to size over purchasing the cruise control specific cowel?

Yes you can cut it out yourself. Luckily it's marked so as long as you stay within the lines it'll be good.

I use my multitool to cut the bulk out and then fine tune it with my dremel with different sizes of sanding heads. The curve at the bottom is the trickiest part so a round hand file is probably best but I'm too impatient for that

I would do a cutting service but the trouble is BMW 'had' to put a soft touch finish on the plastic which means most lower cowels i come across have damage on them.

Perfect!

If its still available on Friday 22nd I'll have it :) Always up for some DIY.

If someone wants it beforehand don't feel you have to hold obviously, my partner allows me a monthly budget so I don't spend all the money

I can make more, it's not a problem.
