Disa Question

Hi, I was catching up on some reading on the forum and came across prevention steps to take RE: Z 4s.
Concerning the Disa valve, which engine, year or model are effected by a corrupt Disa?. Do I need to check my 2.5I 2006 Z. If so is there a Youtube link showing how its done?
I read it can ruin the engine... :|

How do you determine which is the M54, and N52 engine. Which one is effrected by the Disa?

So yours will be the N52.

Thanks Skelters, so......the N52, are they prone to Disa failures? If so then my tools will be out when the weather improves.

The pin was changed from plastic to metal I believe.

If you have the plastic pin it might be worth changing.

Metal pin then not really an issue I think.

I believe the flap also tend to disintegrate. I read somewhere an Aluminium flap was used as a replacement.

N52 Disa is not generally regarded as being problematic. IIRC though, the non-Si N52 is a little different to the 2.5Si in that it only has one Disa rather than two (which is one of the reasons it has significantly less power) but I think it is still the newer design.
