I think all insurance companies are the same in terms of customer service.
My policy, the second you hear a negative tone in the voice end the call and try again until you get some helpful.
I have had numerous very positive experience with direct line in particular when I was 22 and had a Z8. They would not insure me due to risk level. I was able to get through a manager and they "bent" the rules due to my creative reasoning.
I also got them to duplicate my no claims discount to second vehicle before the multi car discount thing even existed.
The point is sometimes you have to force them to do the right thing even when it feels like >
