Dim brake lights

It is a 2005, when full lighting system is on and brakes not applied, the full circle should be on but dimmed. But what I'm getting on the left side is, inner half dimmed (normal), the outer half very very dimmed (not normal). But when I apply the brakes, what I'm getting is outer half full on, inner half off which is normal.

I have replaced the bulb, but same thing is happening :(.
 
Could be a number of things, bad earth dodgy bulb even. You could swap the bulb from the other side to see if it moves the problem over, if it does you know the bulb is at fault.
 
What about ground wire?

I watched it for a while, now it starts to flicker... (when lighting system on, no brakes applied)

So I took out the bulb socket (#4) and took a closer look, inside there are 2 metal contacts with the bulb (+/-) one at the bottom, one at the cylinder wall. the one on the cylinder wall had some caked on burnt residue. There was significant amount, that it transfered to my new bulb, making it flicker under lower voltage.

I had it cleaned out, and everything is back to normal :thumbsup:
