I have a 09 3.0i Sdrive thats only covered 15,000 miles. The engine warning light came on so I checked the code with a scanner which indicated a DPS fault. Anyway I cleared the fault code to see if it would return and it did.
I removed the sensor to give it a clean, which is all you can do, put it back, cleared the code and restarted the engine and yep the light returned, so it looks like I need to replace it. £60 + vat.
I took the part number from the DPS and noticed the manufacture date of 07/11 so it looks as though it was replaced before, about 5,000 miles ago.
I also notice traces of oil on the sensor.
So to the questions, Is this a common fault, is the part sub standard? Is the light use of the car a factor in the unit failing? Any other comments?
