Difference between headlight switch/LCM (part numbers)

Hey guys,

I'm looking to slowly build up the parts list for retro-fitting xenon lights

I currently have non-xenons, auto wipers, auto light, front and back fogs.

I've found a switch/LCM which has all the above with xenon's. But I'm not sure of the differences between the part numbers.

The one I'm looking at has a part number:
61316965399 - it's black and looks to have all the correct buttons.

I have an 07 coupe, will 61316965399 do the job? A little worried as it says ENDED production in 05/2007.
Does any know the difference between them? I assume colour will have something to do with it. I believe there's black or grey?
 
Didn't notice this before but the LCM's do a lot more than switch lights on, such as storing the odometer reading.

Most obvious difference though is that the xenon version does not have the headlight levelling switch as they auto level based upon suspension sensor input.

What I understand is that any LCM can be programmed by dealer or specialist to operate xenons, but of course you must not have a manual adjuster. I know this as I fitted xenons in someone's zed and they got the LCM coded.

One more comment is that if you fit a replacement LCM and drive the car more than a few miles without it being coded in by the dealer it flags the mileage tamper dot and that can never be extinguished!!
 
I got friendly with a local bmw specialist so the coding isn't going to be a problem. When I have all the parts I'll be fitting the headlights and level sensors then driving down there (without switching the lights on), I'll leave the LCM for him to sort :)

But all the LCM's above will have no headlight adjustment as they're for xenons, but why are there 4 versions?!

Can't answer why 4 versions.I assume for different markets, trim colour, switch colour, bezel, etc.

Do your own investigation but I believe you must not drive with the new (or no LCM) until it has been programmed for the car. Mileage as well as lights. I'd drive it there and swap in the workshop, unless you prove my concern wrong.
