Did you ruin your roof with Renovo? May have found the fix

So couple of months ago I decided to re dye my roof with Renovo, and to be honest I made a complete and utter pig's ear of it !! the roof ended up in worse condition than in the first place tide marks all over it  20150409_174830_1.jpg
Now I know I'm not the only person who's made a mess of re dying the roof, once you get marks on it, it's impossible to get them off, Renovo suggest that you dye the roof again this just makes it look worse :(
I googled it but any suggestions of how to get rid of marks came up with a big fat zero.
So after every attempt to get this roof looking better failed it was time to do something a bit more drastic
This next bit is not for the faint Hearted basically I scrubbed the roof with neat Acetone ( nail varnish remover) what followed was two weeks of hard work but a roof that looks 100% better all of the tide marks have disappeared without removing any of the colour of the original roof and so far without any effect on the canvas top20150627_083335.jpg
Acetone breaks down the new dye that's been put on leaving the roof clean and as it was before.20150627_083648.jpg
At the moment I don't know what the long term effects of this will be but the car has been left out in direct sunlight for 2 weeks and the roof has not altered in colour and hasn't gone into holes, so I just may have found the solution to a lot of people's roof dying nightmares
Hopefully poeple will find this useful but I am going to put disclaimer on this Acetone is a very strong chemical and if it ruins your roof I don't want you coming round my house kicking my head in. it's worked for me
P.S. it also took 3 litres of acetone !!!
the roof as of this morning still work to do but better beats buying a new roof20150705_125548.jpg
By the time I finished the roof should be back to a clean unmarked base so I can dye it properly

It's not rearly Renovo which is the problem but me for not following the instructions to the letter, I now know it is not something to be rushed :(

So are you going to "Renovo" it again :?

To be honest I've been quoted £100 for a detailer to do it properly but I will still need to get all the old dye off :|

Inspired or lucky escape? :D the waterproof membrane under the fabric topping is made of butyl - one of the few materials that resists acetone! and presumably the cloth is either natural/ polyester/ mix or it would have melted to a gel!

Hope it holds up
