Did the new Wax today: Collinite No. 845

This is continued from thread http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=2440

I did not have to work today so I put the new Collinite No. 845 Insulator wax on the car today...

Sorry, but forgot to take before and after pics.

The shine was just as good or better than the Megs. It comes in a bottle and has to be squeezed out. It has the constancy of cottage cheese, or drying Tapioca pudding. Not a liquid, but more of a greasy paste.
Goes on like grease and dries moderately quickly.

The first area I did I put too much on, but learned fast how much to put on the buffer pad.

In the areas that I put too much on, it was a little harder to get off. I had to change the buffer pad three times to get all of it off, then put a clean pad on to just do the final buff/polish.

It does take some time for it to set/cure. I am thinking about two hours or so. An hour after it was finished, I had to close the trunk and I still left a mark with my finger..

Then I had to go play Santa and deliver presents to friends. Drove over to my track buddy's house (about eight to 10 miles). Today here in Va Beach, it was 55', windy and misty..... Lots of dust being blown around....
When I got over there, my bud came out to look at the wax job. He was amazed at the lack of dust on the car... and we watched dust get blown on the car and then just fall off like a super slick surface...

Then I had to go over to another friends house. While there, it sprinkled a little bit. We watched the water sorta bead, then puddle then just run off the car, like it was being chased off..... Came out to go home about an hour later, and the car was dry with no water marks....

If it lasts as long as I hope, then well worth the $15.00 a bottle. I only used a little over a quarter of the bottle.....

Highly curious to hear how this works in the long term. The details guys who told me about it have been using it on yachts in the Bellevue area as well as on cars with lots of outdoor time and they think the world of it but I'd love to hear some follow up from someone who is living with it.....

Your initial description sounds promising.

Thnx for sharing.

I've used Collinite for the last year or so on all my cars.

It does last, about 3-5 months depending on weather. It's fair to say it may not give the best reflective shine on dark colours but can be improved with a couple of coats of jetseal before...

The trick is to put a very thin layer on then you don't get the grease marks, also it's not the best to use in the cold weather. For the winter months I bet you'd be hard pushed to better it. When the summer comes swap over to a DoDo wax again with prime lime and jetseal 109 and you'll be in bling heaven. :D

Thanks for the link.
I found this on that site.

A comparison of Collinite 476 and Jetseal over a 12 week period. It's not the Collinite 845 but a nice comparison.

Errrrr, you can use them both :D

Jetseal gives the nice deep shine, good old Collinite for the protection.

There is not much difference between the Collinite Range, except the obvious liquid and paste.

Ok, I took two pics today of the car with Collinite on it. Be advised that I did the wax job on Saturday, it rained all day Sunday... and my car sits out in the weather, NOT in a garage... :headbang:

Dang Ship, get some full body shots will ya?...and I TOLD you to get before and after pics :rtfm: ...what am I going to do with you?!

Seriously though, looks very, very shiney. Too bad muppet's not around, he would approve completely. I think it looks nice and deep, very glossy - great job Ship!

It's been three weeks since I put the Colinite 845 on and here is the first update. For those of you that have not bothered to read the whole thread, my car sits outside........

(OK, here it comes....FNI, just say it.........)

I have been driving it regularly to work but I have had it parked for the last two days because of the rain.... I have NOT washed it since I put the wax on..
The rain is doing a very good job.... but it will get a cleaning tomorrow.... The pictures are not great because of the overcast today..

Don't mind those HORRIBLE wheels. They are soon to be history.....

As you can see, no water marks... and the VaderMobile shines.....
You can even see rust on the rotors. Sunny tomorrow, so the rust will be gone... :driving:

That silver EYESORE behind that beautiful car will be gone next week.... another long story... :headbang:

Not bad for a 2003... if I do say so myself.....

Not mine but my mother-in-law's. The doctors won't let her drive. It has been sitting in the drive way for TWO years.... with FULL Coverage.... on a 85' Caravan...

So now it will be GONE.....
