DICE Problem

Hi all,

I bought a DICE silverline pro off this forum. I installed it without any major issues. However, I thought the DICE was supposed to be able to read the track names...

all I get is TR01 displayed (if I'm lucky, I sometimes get "??P" on the Display, which is german for WTF) then when I try to change track on the head unit, the number switches to TR02 but the track doesn't change.

Another annoyance is it locks my iphone, so I can't choose an alternative song without disconnecting, changing track, start it playing and reconnect. Its really annoying me now.

I considered using the AUX cable instead (I installed both) but I plug this in and nothing happens. Can anyone help with these queries? :?

Sorry, the list of problems with DICE is so long that I could not even start to suggest what you need to do :)

I could post a video of what another user thought though, and it involved a sledgehammer and a torch...

haha, seen it. Just thought someone would have an idea of getting it sorted, like there was a specific mode or something.

Can anyone help with getting the AUX cable working so i can use that instead? at least then I can change the track while its plugged in :P

Hi chrismann85,

I have a DICE installed in my Z4 which I've set up in what's called "Smart Mode"....

Dip 1 = OFF (both up)
Dip 2 = ON (both down)

This mode doesn't lock my iPhone and allows album and podcast selection without having to disconnect the phone, on the head unit though I do only see "Attached" and no track names. This doesn't bother me though asI can see everything on my iPhone.

I found this page after having issues with mine (had to disconnect the battery to "re-boot" the DICE), the Tom guy seems to really know his stuff, and it was the best source of help on DICE I could find after scouring the web for hours....hope this doesn't break any house rules though:

Hope this helps, apologies in advance if you've already done this....when you get it up and running it really will be worth every penny

My z4 already had a dice iPod connector already fitted when I bought it. It displays all the song title/artist and album text perfectly. It really does work great. Strange other people are having problems?

To get aux working (IIRC) you need to select disc 5, then use track selector. If you have something connected to aux and turned on, you will find you suddenly hear it as you scroll through track selector. I used it to play spotify through on my Nokia E71. and it worked a treat. I just cannot remember which track you need to select. You will also get partial track wording in DICE mode, but I can't for life of me recall how I got it (I think I threw a few F's at it in typical petach mode) I think it all depends on disc 5 selection and scrolling through for various functions (i.e. select artist, album, play list etc)

I did say it was like trying to understand your wife. If you don't, it's hell....if you do, then ahhhhhhhhhh relax!

I don't blame you petach, it is as it's great makers intended it. It's still miles better than earphones anyway :P
