Hi

I'm sure its been asked a million times and answered a million and one times but whats the best way to replace a diamond key for my Z4, the blade is fine ! tried the gently cut it open and replace battery which did nothing so i can only assume i need a new key less the blade, so is it Amazon or specialist !! ?

thanks :crazydude:

Hi Hamish,
Which part of the key isn't working;
Does it start the car but not unlock doors?
Have you tried the procedure for pairing the key with the car?

It would probably be more cost effective to get the key refurbished rather than replacing it, new buttons might be needed.
If you do chose to replace the PCB, you will need to get the new transponder programmed to the car. If you also want the body replaced you will need to get a blade cut. :thumbsup:

If you've replaced the battery then it should just need pairing. Have a search for BMW key pairing procedure.
The batteries are rechargeable, but they do sometimes fail, it's not very often the PCB fails? AFAIK.

There are also a few members who offer key services... have a browse through here: https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=13

Sometimes the buttons on the PCB fail. This then prevents the pairing procedure from working due to the button pressed being temperamental.
Easy to solder on replacements :thumbsup:

Take a look here for the Pairing process.
