Detailing Routine?

Car I am picking up soon has not been deep cleaned for years. Good condition, no scratches or dings but three years of being washed at the hand car wash. Swirl marks all over it.
I was thinking - after the wash of its life (by me) - clay bar it down, polish it up and then top coat it. Then renovate the hood.

What say the Oracle? What products do you guys use??

Apologies, that came over as wrong and that was not my intention. I have gone back and corrected.

I'd recommend checking out the 'detailing + bodywork' sub-forum, which has loads of good information :thumbsup:

Hi Jon, after the clay bar I would machine polish the car to save you wasting 6 months of your life (that you can't get back) trying to do the same job by hand :thumbsup:

Call it as you see it buddy

Get it fully detailed if not marked heavily nor chipped
Get it machine polished then sealed with a ceramic coating
This can be waxed on top of or sealed further

Of chipped and marked heavily
Fill paint correction first then same as above

Never heard of "ceramic coating before" :lol: Will need to look at that. Going to get a machine polisher too, my 640 could use a good polish as well. Any polisher suggestions? Don't want to spend a fortune on it. 60-70 quid or so?

Dual Action, does a figure 8 in fast succession so it does not burn the paint by having it too long on a single location.

Orbital is more dangerous in that respect for paint burn.

Thanks man. I'm looking into it. Got a big 640D, a ZZR600 and soon a Z4 to keep polished and lovely 8) Can't wait to get my Z4 :)
