Detailing Procedure????

My Monaco blue 2007 2.5 needs some TLC. Needs a full detail that I will do myself.
Can someone recommend a mechanism to follow please with a DAS6 Pro that I am going to buy?

I have never 'polished" a car before in the technically correct sense, only waxed them before.....

I was thinking:
1. Car gets the wash of its life.
2. Clay bar down (or clay mitt?)
3. Scholl S20 Black Polish with Chemical guys Green pad
4. Autoglym Sealant
5. Two coats of Dodo Juice wax (i have this already and use it on my BMW 640). Chemical guys Red Pad.

Dragons Breathe on the wheels.

Any suggestions or thoughts guys please?

After all that what would be a good maintenance routine? Wash of course and then?

Any ideas on getting the hood clean and a deep black?

The detailing sub-thread does not get read that much I've noticed so if the forums mods insist of moving this post to that section then I accept the slap on the hand.....

sounds a good routine to me but use the two bucket method when washing it initially.

As for the cleaning the hood - how about buying an E89 :rofl: :poke:

I'd also recommend Meguairs Gold Class shampoo and their microfibre mitt. :thumbsup:
 
Using a DASpro the best stuff ive found to clean/cut back swirly paint & blemishes is Meglars Ultimate Compound
Then i favour 50Cal Glaze topped with Fusso Soft 99 & sealed with Collinite 845 but it really becomes a try out of products until you hit the formula & products that you prefer
Also just recently i discovered AutoFinesse Glisten fine spray & man that gives a quick & slick fast coating to enhance once the hard work is done 8)
 
When the hood is bone dry give it a good going over with a stiff nylon brush and your vacuum cleaner. This will lift loads of loose dirt from the fabric. I then mix a strong solution of TFR at 20:1 and thoroughly brush this in with the same stiff brush after wetting the hood with a hosepipe. Rinse any TFR from the windows or paintwork with the hosepipe as you work your way round the hood. If your fabric is in good condition then pressure wash completely and thoroughly from a distance of 18 inches or so. If the fabric is weathered then flush the hood with your hosepipe for a good while. Dry off as much water as possible with a microfibre towel. I then apply Fabsil Gold with a brush direct to the damp fabric. Let the hood dry completely for at least 24 hours. When it rains the water beads like you won't believe and lasts for months !
Some people on this forum mix liquid shoe polish with their waterproofer but my car has had a hardtop fitted through the winters all its life and so the fabric is in excellent condition.
As for your detailing, it sounds like you have some good products and a good idea what to do with them. Take a look at YouTube for detailing tips. I regularly look at Car Cleaning Guru, Ammo NYC, and Chemical Guys Detailing Garage. :thumbsup:

TFR is Traffic Film Remover. A strong alkaline detergent that has many uses but must be used with care and diluted correctly. Search on Ebay for it.
 
After a bit of research, this is the routine I am going to use to do the paintwork (ignoring the soft top for now). Appreciate everyone has an opinion and much of this depends on how bad the car is to begin with (not too bad in my case).

1. Very, very good wash with pressure washer and shampoo (Personally I don't buy into the snowfoam thing ....)
2. Bilt Humber de-contaminant to get chemical muck off the car before claying it
3. Bilt Humber medium clay bar.
4. Scholl S20 Black polish
5. Autoglym Sealant x 2
6. Dodo juice wax x 2

Steps 2-6 I am going to do in complete sections (i.e. do all of those steps before moving on to the next section)
Section A. Bonnet and Front
Section B. Wings and Doors
Section C. Rear
