Sundays experience for a novice Z4 detailer like myself....

Shampoo (Meguiars NXT)
Claybar (Meguiars quick detailer spray and bar)
Swirl removal (Meguiars Scratch X)
Wax (Meguiars NXT 2 wax cream not spray)
Seal (Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection)

Must admit I quite enjoyed myself (sad), took me the best part of 6 hours from start to finish and that includes leaving the Extra Gloss Protection on for 45 mins...all applied by hand and very, VERY happy with the results.

Next time around I'll be using a electric pollisher, how does the Meguiars G220 stock up against in infamous Porter? I think A, it'll do a better job, B - it'll be quicker and C - I'll have use of my arms the following day :D.

You'll see the odd mention odd Meguiars here and there, I just like their products, easy and cheap (if you look in the right places) to get hold of here in the UK unless anyone can 100% swear by another product that produces better results?

I would post a 'just detailed my baby' pic but it's a bit stormy here at the moment, I could send a picture or beading water though

Cheers,
Zed.

2dogs, I'll bet you do :? , see what I can do for ya, scared to take any more photos from the phone camera is fear of the rubbing I'll get...again :D

Powerontap, yes agreed but there were scratches on the car too and thought, stupidly maybe, kill two birds and all that?

Detailing sin #1?

I'm afraid so. The cutting power (micro abrasion) in such a product can bring your clear coat down too much when used improperly. As noted on your bottle: "Scratch Remover is intended for use on small areas of the car's paint that are affected by scratches". Don't forget that a new car's clear coat thickness is only about two-thousandth (.002) of an inch thick. There are polishing products out there with lesser cutting concentration that will get rid of swirls and small surface scratches. The thing to remember is: Start with a less abrasive polish and move up only when neccessary.

If you have a PC, there is nothing like Zaino PC Fusion for ease of use in getting rid of swirls; keep working it in and it becomes a final polish, ready for sealant.

Rubbish.... Scratch X is full of fillers and less cut. Its really wont get through your clear coat. T-cut by machine would though!!!!!!

Just in the process of fully detailing the Z4, so far its been cleaned and ready for correction.....

BombayDuk, tru dat, however, I'm not too sure Zaino has a local distributor in the UK. Or does it??

You can purchase from here in the UK http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/zaino/cat_63.html very quick delivery and good service theres prob a few other on line suppliers do not know of anywhere of the shelf though

You won't find Zaino on a retailers shelf. There is only one retailer in the US that handles Zaino. It is a very unique situation.
