Dension Ice Link Plus problem (again!)

Otherwise you have to move the pins across into the white connector. I can not remember the pin layout though but I do have some schematics somewhere from a few years ago when I worked on it. If it comes to that, I could dig those out.

I need to take my head unit out soon to finish of the SatNav install (Dont say a word PVR  ) so could do this but think you need the proper interface as it includes a daisy chain loom for the headunit which must be required for some reason.

You would do well in government IT projects srhutch, you start them but never finish them :D

You in luck so far, I found the email order confirmation

iPod Car Kit Direct

http://www.ipodcarkitdirect.co.uk

1 x ice>Link Plus Vehicle Harness - BMW IBUS Quadlock (ILBM40) = £18.97

Only problem as I see it was this was just over 2 years ago and the IceLink Plus is obsolete, but has to be worth a try.

Good luck.

PS if you need firmware updates and the ID3 tag bit then let me know.

srhutch,

I've been in contact with ipodcarkitdirect and seems like thy don't have any of these harnesses anymore!

Just been browsing the net "over lunch!!" and found this, is it the same?

I guess you mean the DICE ones, but I am guessing the answer will be no as the connections to the dice unit will be different, this would be what you want though, as long as the price doesnt go to high

Cheers, I'll keep an eye on it, see how it goes!!

Can you confirm (to a non-mechanical pleb) how this one differs from what I have, and how it would connect

The quadblock attached to the Dension connects to the back of the radio, the connector which is in the radio at the moment connects into the other block that is attached to the Dension.

If you have bluetooth, you have to move that little block (from the original quadblock) into the new quadblock of the Dension.

PM'd you!!

goose, if you posted me abouth this

then it;s no good, the interface for the 3 series which this came from is different in that it has round pins where as the Z4 has flat pins.

I have one of the round pin interfaces just in case I get an E46 M3 instead.

OK, so the Dension Gateway 100 that is currently on ebay is no good, however the the Line Link Plus that you found will fit?

Yes that is correct, the one I posted has flat pins in the quadlock where as you one has round pins.

Does anyone know the pinout details for the CD changer, I'm looking at the possibility of hacking the connections but am not sure which cables are which!

Any further assistance greatly received!!!!!!!!!

Goose can you posts a decent picture of the dension loom you have.

This will give mw an idea of what you need to do, you maybe able to buy a ISO - Z4 loom used for Handfress Car Kits and replace the ends of the dension loom with the ones of the ISO loom.

As requested! - I hope that these pic's give you enough info!
All pic's are of the head unit end of the Dension loom. Here goes
This 1st pic's is of the complete end.
IMG00014-20090702-1655.jpg

This 2nd pictuure shows the smaller cable. From the main cable, there is a brown, white and black cable. The brown cable runs through a 2amp fuse, and on to the connection. The white and black run to the connection. I have managed to read three numbers inside the connection
1- Black, 2 - brown and 3 - white. The connection is a 3 stepped connection.

IMG00023-20090702-1703.jpg

This 3rd pic also shows the smaller connector.

The main connector is a 6-pin connector, with 4 pins in use.
1 Has a red cable 4 - Has a white cable
2 Has a black cable 5 - Has a black, and lighter black cable (two cables)
3 - No cable 6 - No cable

Hope this helps!!!!!!!

Ok, so this is now fixed. Orininal Desniosn that I bought actually connects to the CD changer connection in the boot (1 of the cables that you have to unplug). You then have to feed the cable through the car to the desired location - needless to say I haven't bothered with this.

The 2nd unit that i bought was a lot better, although it took a bit of effort to get it working.

Many thanks to srhutch for all his help.

Taking the z down to cornwall for a good run today, so a great chance to try out the playlists :D
