Defective rear top shock mounts?

I have been told that if you are changing the springs it is worth changing the rear top shock mounts at the same time….

“I advise you change the rear top shock mounts for Rogue Engineering ones at same time, I assume you know the story with he defective nature of the BMW OEM ones”

Anybody else know about this? First I have heard of this.

Certainly heard about it although it is more common on the E46 than ours. Not sure why you'd be up there when changing springs though. If you're changing the shocks too i.e. going for coilovers then for sure get it done but not if you're just changing springs. :?
