Decontamination?

What is it exactly?

I'm completely new to detailing
It's the process of ensuring all contaminates are removed from the paint before you start polishing. Several stages involved depending on far you want to go. Look up White Details on YouTube for an idea of the full decontamination process.

Before I set-to with the DA, I usually just give it a wash, then claybar, another wash/rinse then spray and wipe 50/50 alcohol and demineralised water, then let rip with the polisher.
An easy way to tell if your paint is contaminated is to wash and rinse once then run your finger over the panel when still wet. If it's contaminated you'll feel it, otherwise it should be glass smooth.

You do know this thread is about car cleaning, not what you get up to in your bedsit on a Friday evening? :P

I suspect when you read this thread title you immediately thought to yourself 'Maybe I'll get some tips on how to optimise my monthly underpants rotation regimen....'
