"Dead" rear screen heater elements?

Breaker

Elite
Noticed this morning that on 2 of the rear screen heater elements the screen wasn't clearing. When I got to work I felt the inside of the screen and sure enough on 2 strips, about 3 strips down from the top the, screen was cold so 2 are not working!
1st warranty job I guess.

What do you think? A new rear screen? I'll phone the dealers.

Since it's in warranty, let the dealer fix it.

If you have one not in warranty, then you can try this.

Put some aluminum foil over the break and rub with a hard object.. SOMETIMES that will fix the problem.

Over here in the US, I have seen a repair kit that is sold in Auto Parts stores. It has some type of brush on solder or metal that joins the two parts...

OT. You got some new headlights?

Took to dealers this morning. Strange it stopped working as the cars only 7 months old!

It's the 5th and 6th electrode strips (from the top of the screen) that aren't working. Right in the drivers eye line in the rear view mirror!

Well, got car back from dealers. They tried a repair but no good. Going back next Tuesday to have a new rear screen put in.

All sorted. Got a new rear window and it's all working. :D

But! :|

They haven't fitted the window in as square as they should! It's the smallest of margins sat over to one side more than the other! :(
Now I am talking a small amount, but it bugged me a bit! I used to be the manager of a vehicle test and finish department so I can be your worst customer as everything has to be 110% if I have a job done! Everything else is fine, but it's a shame mechanics don't have the pride in a vehicle that isn't their own sometimes!! I guess the glass is glued in so it could have moved ever so slightly in the drying time as there is a bit of leeway in the recess.

Guess I need to stop being so fussy sometimes!

Update on this rear screen problem.

It kept on bugging me that the rear window wasn't fitted square, so I took it back to the dealer. I could have gone in guns blazing saying I wasn't happy, but I decided to get them to say it wasn't right! The workshop manager came out to have a look and I said if he could guarantee it wouldn't leak or cause a problem, I was happy to leave it. He had a look and said if it was his, he wouldn't be happy either and booked it back in!
Got it back Saturday and it's bang on square now!

Why not do it right in the first place!! :| Better to do things right once instead of doing the job twice!
