Deactivating Run Flat Tyre Light

Hi guys,

I've just bought some new 18" wheels for my car but didnt go for the run flat tyre option and had a set of run flat tyres on my set before. Whenever i drive now i just get the run flat solid red light on my dash. Is there any way you can deactivate it so the light doesnt come on?

Thanks

Ben

Shouldn't come on - the system won't know what tyres you have on :o

You have reset the sensors since the change haven't you?

There is a button on the panel in front of the gear lever, looks like a tyre with a ! inside it. As you start off next time press and hold that button until an icon in the dash comes on yellow, then just drive the icon will go out and all systems go :D

I think ....

Yeah, but RED indicators are serious business. That means it's not reading any pressure. Yellow is caution (like when the weather turns cold and the pressures drop). Try resetting as suggested, but if it stays red, there is something wrong in the system.

Just to ask the obvious question, did you have your sensors transfered over to you new wheels? I do realize it's a "one in a million chance" that you didn't, just covering all the bases.

Aren't they done off the ABS?

Correct -

Pre-facelift - all use ABS
Post-facelift around MY2007-ish I think - UK uses ABS, US/Canucks use sensors

More info to store away in the dim recesses of my memory. My experience has only been with the 2007 US system. Thanks for the info, gotta love these forums.
