So after waiting over two weeks to get my DCT oil I have finally had the gearbox sorted. I know the DCT is prone to leaking due mainly to the plastic oil pan. I sourced the “repair kit” which is the canister filter with plastic cap and new circlip. I also sourced a new filter which sits just inside the pan, new pan and appropriate bolts.
My car had a patch under the gearbox and I suspected the gearbox oil pan to be weeping.
I was considering this job myself but am fully aware you need the BMW software to sort refilling the box correctly.
Well had a local BMW indie do it for me. This confirmed my suspicions as the pan removed you could just see where it had failed on one corner. The box took 8.5L to fully refill. I had watched several YouTube vids using the BMW software and the correct filling process.
The garage completed the filter changes etc then did three refills. The oil has to be over 30 degrees each time which they did. Really pleased with the outcome as the gearbox is performing much smoother. I was informed the oil which came out was quite clean but the canister filter was black and clearly had never been changed. They did say it was a bit anal supplying new pan bolts!
Next on the list …. Sorting valves with walnut blasting.
