DCS Module Faulty

Well thought it was a glitch, but the lights have come on again so took my Z4 to a friendly mechanic mmmm ABS, Brake light and warning triangle all on in yellow. Car drives fine so no major trauma in that respect.

Fault codes indicate DCS module faulty, which apperently comes in two halves, the control unit and pump unit. BMW have back orders on the factory for this unit and done some searching on the net and it comes up as a common fault.

New unit from BMW is £1400 ish plus fitting, though my mechanic is sure you can get a refurbished pump for £200 is plus fitting.

Anyone had similar experiences of this so I can explore the possible alternative issues ?

Thanks in advance

I'm in the same boat as you ... Been quoted that at a specialist independents ... Going to take it to BMW sytner see what they think. According to the forum it's quite a common problem I'm hoping BMW may contribute to repair (wishful thinking) we'll see...

Have the same probs but not had it read yet!! so back to driveing by seat of the pants untill, wheels, tyres, all the norm things with a zed get fixed. :(

I,m sure I,ve read something about a repair kit being available for the ABS pump/module....£200 seems to ring a bell.....find a knowledgeable Indi

There is a repair kit available for BMW Series I. Had it done on mine a couple of years ago. Costs approx £180 including VAT plus fitting. Should imagine that a similar repair kit from Bosch is available for the Z4.

Is this common on any Z or are the Ms different?

Very common on the Series 1 model. Not sure about other BMW's.

It's called DSC module by the way, which stands for Dynamic Stability Control.
