Daytime running lights - Can they be turned off ?

I have a 2010 and I'm sure my sidelights (halos) are off normally. I have auto lights and normally leave them on this. Is that why or do they need to be coded so they're on always. That's what I'd like. I don't have I drive unfortunately to code them if needed.

There must be another way to do this without idrive.
We dont have idrive and one key has the lights on and one doesnt.
Im sure the manual talks you through it.
