Dashboard Warning Symbols - Yellow Handbrake Symbol and DSC

I've looked in the manual and couldn't find any answers. I have a intermitant fault, sometimes the car is fine and doesn't show any errors and other times the warning symbols come on - appears to be random! Had anyone had this problem before?

Im sure these lights appeared on mine when the fuel injector failed and the car died! I didnt get any prior warning though, I just lost all power and these two lights illuminated. However, they may illuminate for other reasons too im guessing maybe something to do with the brakes/stability system being a possibility?

DSC malfunction (warning lights) - do a forum search, quite a well known fault is appears- mines throwing it up randomly, more and more over last few days, you can reset it from memory by pressing and holding dsc button for ten secs while ignition is in no 1 position, maybe justa gremlin, or im told in my case probably need a new sensor, get it checked and sorted before winter or you will lose back end!!!

I had those flash up today for the first time.I had parked on some loose gravel and they came on just after i had moved off.
Ignition turned off and car restarted the warning lights had gone off.
No further problem since.

I've had no problems with power loss so hopefully that won't happen. Sometimes when I take the car out the symbols aren't there then I might hit a dip in the road and it illuminates the symbols. It's a bit random! Could it be a loose sensor cable or something?

Where is the sensor?

Im not sure, but part of the control unit it at top of engine bay to left side of engine block, the previous owner to me took it in to local indi by him and plug was loose, they pushed it in and was ok for few weeks, now its back but plug is solid ( Im going on what the previous owner said - only had it few weeks) he made me aware there could be a prob with it before sale!!

Google / forum search suggest its a common fault that the sensor breaks down, you have to drop break fluid to change it im told!

Hopefully it will sort itself out in yours but defo think mine needs new sensor prior to winter setting in.

***** remember when the lights are lit the dsc in malfunctioning, so be mindful when accelerating and on twisty roads etc, that BMW is not there to save your arse or you could pay the ultimate price, and end up sideways *****

bit more info on the plugs to checkin this thread, also try the search facility on the forum

Hey buddy when these lights usually come up its because of your wheel speed sensor. it is very common in BMW's as they have magnets which brake clippings get attracted to. They arn't very expensive maybe $120 and you can replace it yourself. Only this is that you need to plug a scanner into it to know which one it is ie(front or back and left or right). If you need more help on this just inbox me 8)

normal to have the triangular light flashing on gravel with foot down when pulling away, the car is telling you that the DSC system has kicked in to restore traction and stability. perfectly normal!!

Has this some time ago re-occurred this week while having an Inspection 1service at an indys so he could extract fault code. Rear brake sensor at £86 + VAT and 20 mins to fit and bleed brakes
