Dashboard hum noise

Guys,

Last couple of times I've been out in the car, after turning the engine off, I've noticed a kind of humming noise that seems to come from the stereo and climate control area. Even removing the key and locking the car the noise is still present. Sounds like either a small fan or electrical interference of somekind.

My car has nav and has always made noises from the DVD drive but it's definitely not that and it's definitely not a speaker issue. No battery drainage problems at the moment either.

Am I alone and any suggestions as to what it might be?

Thanks

A mechanic says: it's features that run for a few minutes after the car is shut off that burns off extraneous fuel for emissions purposes? He thinks the pop is from that and completely normal. Also says that the pop has an echo to it which suggests its coming through the exhaust tubes and further validates that theory.

Does your car pop after the hum stops?
Does this sound the same as described? :?

I'll check today, could be that, be good if someone could confirm that theirs hums from the stereo/ac unit too.

I have exactly the same sound , one of mechanical precision, audible only in complete silence, always at the same time after shutdown. Sounds like the HVAC control going to sleep or some default 'sleep' setting. Sounds perfectly normal to me.

Mine has been doing that as long as I can remember....so pretty normal to me. Sometimes it lasts a few seconds longer than other times.

I don't know if this is the source, but several HVAC flaps are moved to terminal positions on power off so that their stepper motors can all start from a known reference point at next start up.
