Dash Cam

I use a Blackvue DR500GW which I swop between cars. It's not the cheapest but it's fairly unobtrusive and quick & easy to take out/in from its windsceen mount. I also like the wifi function allowing connection between it and my phone. It can be hard wired but I just use the rear cigarette lighter socket and run the cable under carpets and trim to the mount. It has recorded some interesting events over the last several months.
One thing to remember is that a dashcam is a video record of your driving behaviour, speed etc........................... I leave mine in car park mode during the night so that it over writes the memory card just in case I might have exceeded the speed limit by accident at some stage

There some photos and instructions half way down this page http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=60245&start=75

I bought a mini USB converter adapter, plenty to choose from on fleabay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/141051703938?clk_rvr_id=685535620349

Funnily enough I've just ordered a mini 0803 today which gets good reviews. I've gone for the extra mount so I can swap between cars. I like this one as its very small, descrete and still has a small viewing screen. I prefer also the small adhesive mount than a large suction cup as it will be left in the car.

Will be running the cable behind the roof lining and trim to the spare 12v socket in the passenger footwell,

I looked at the blackvue but theres no integrated viewing screen which is a bit of a pain should you want to review any clips.

I'm currently using a Smartcam but I find it isn't descrete enough, large suction mount and silver case and doesn't seem to handle contrast very well.
