Dash Cam Installed?

Proud owner of a 2024 Z4 M40i! I love this car!

For Christmas my wife bought me a Rove R2-4K Dual Channel Dash Cam. Has anyone ever installed one of these in their Z4? I'd love to find out how it was installed, along with any tips for hiding wires, etc.

It's got two cameras and I think the one that's supposed to be mounted on the back window will be a little tricky.

The best way is to fix it behind the rearview mirror, then hide the cable along the roof trim and A-pillar to the glove box or 12V socket.

I've fitted a fitcamx recently to mine, bought it direct and with discounts cost £139 shipped Amazon wanted (£189). Took about 20 minutes to fit no wires to hide and looks totally oem. You can download videos to your phone or store them in a built sd microcard (supplied), really pleased with it so far and they offer other versions with reverse camera etc.

I already own my Rove dash cam, but if it doesn't work or fit properly I'll certainly take your advice on the purchase!

No probs, even the BMW one sticks to the windscreen and you can see the wire. Here's a screen grab from one of the videos.

Does it not record the speed anywhere Rich?

I’m going to have a go at hardwiring my Nextbase to OBD later today. Looks fairly straightforward, hopefully easy enough to tuck into roof trim, down A pillar and find a way right down into footwell for the OBD port. Hopefully just not left with too much excess cable to try and hide. Was considering the FitcamX too but also needs hardwiring to be activated if hit while car is parked so no need to buy something new if it’s going to be the same process. I don’t mind a small dashcam hanging from the windscreen as it’s tucked behind my rear view anyway and the screen is always off.
