Dartmoor walkers

I know one or two members like to get out for a stroll across Dartmoor.
Well I was just rummaging through some old boxes from my RAF days and came across this.
Probably a collectors item now.
Tried it on but seems a little snug

It must've shrunk in storage!

Well I certainly haven't!!
I put it down to the weight of knowledge gained over the years.

The primary thing i've learned is.................No way am I trudging 55 miles across Dartmoor in a day and a half again!!!

And for good measure my T shirt from last years Dart moor Marathon. I was hoping to run the 50 mile this year. Not happening though. :(

Oh, don't get me wrong, I love the place and am jealous of those close enough to frequent it. But for the more 'professional' teams the Ten Tors becomes more of a race and after spending the night in 'bivvy bags' on the heather, the second day, when we still had 15 miles to go, was not fun. Took the gloss off the whole thing tbh. Still glad I did it though.

That’s the problem with you ex RAF guys, too use to your hotels on tours, unlike us ex squaddies! Sleeping in bivvy bags on the ground was the norm. :D

Absolutely!

And who do we think is the mug in that situation :poke: :D
Quite happy to sit in a warm bar while the officers go to war.

But if it makes you feel better, we did our time in trenches, and on concrete floors in Hardened shelters during the First Gulf War.

The senior service take our hotel with us when we travel. We also carry a Gin Palace at the rear of the hotel. So when we're legging it that gets the first welcome card from the opposition. :P
