Dangerous Doors???

I have owned my Zed for just over a month now and i love it. However, on three occasions now, whilst driving at speed on two occasions . . .the doors opened!!! Not all the way, but slipped open to the extent that it sounded like they were wide open! Looking in the mirror I could see it was slightly ajar to the rear wing, so I pulled into the hard shoulder and slammed it shut! Now I get in and slam the doors and hit the lock straight away. Is this just me not closing them hard enough (previous car was a mini, and I certainly didn't have to slam those doors). I mean it's pretty scarey driving along at 80 - 90 mph and the passenger door opens slightly!

Should I be at a bmw stealer this weekend? Is this something they should fix as its a saftey problem right?

Cheers for the help.

Mike.

Safety problem? Self opening doors?

Doesnt sound like anything to worry about to me. I'd chance it. :)

Press the central locking button after closing the doors, and see if the door will open while you are driving.

They either need closing more firmly, or slight adjustment of the door pins, however you say 'doors'. If it's both then something is unlatching them and needs investigating.

I'd not be concerend from a safety perspective as frankly even if they open the second catch will hold them and even if wide open air pressure keeps them closed. The only time they can actually open wide is under braking or a sharp turn, which would be messy... You have seatbelts though. I compete in Jeeps and we often don't even have the doors on.

BMW will fix it if under warranty else it's just a normal payable job.

WOW! Such quick response. Thank you guys, i'll take it to the garage on the weekend and see what they think. I'll ask about the latch hoop.

Thank you for the quick reply's

Mike
